Iran Expo: An Opportunity to Redefine Iran’s Role in Agricultural Trade

A member of the Agriculture Commission of the Iran and Tehran Chambers of Commerce—and former head of the national Agriculture Commission—described Iran Expo as a valuable platform for redefining Iran’s role and position in global agricultural trade.

In an interview with Iran Expo News, Mohammad-Ali Rezaei highlighted the country’s extensive agricultural capacities, stating: “With its diverse natural resources and wide range of climates, Iran has significant potential for producing high-quality agricultural products. Despite challenges such as limited water resources, varied climatic conditions, and the complexities of accessing international markets, Iran has managed—through local knowledge, farmers’ experience, and environmental adaptability—to turn these obstacles into opportunities and gradually activate the sector’s vast potential.”

  • The Role of Events Like Iran Expo in Expanding Foreign Trade

Rezaei, who also serves as President of the Iranian Union of Medicinal Plants, Saffron, and Food Products, stressed the importance of events such as Iran Expo in strengthening foreign trade. He noted:
“This exhibition can play a meaningful role in boosting non-oil exports by building international business networks, enhancing regional cooperation, and showcasing the country’s agricultural capabilities.”

He added that expanding agricultural trade contributes to greater rural employment, improved livelihoods for farmers, and higher technological standards in production. By providing a proper platform for training and upgrading technical knowledge, productivity can rise, enabling farmers to play a more influential role across the value chain.

  • Producers and Exporters Must Embrace Modern Technologies and Packaging

Rezaei emphasized that success in global markets requires strong international marketing skills and product-quality improvement.
“Farmers, producers, and exporters must become familiar with modern technologies and advanced packaging. They should focus on branding and adopt new advertising and sales methods,” he said.

He also stressed that fostering a genuine export culture in Iran’s agricultural sector requires a comprehensive and coordinated plan—one that includes continuous farmer training, support for export companies, development of a national brand, and promotion of Iranian products at reputable international exhibitions.

  • The Need for a Metro Station Serving the International Exhibition Center

The member of the Agriculture Commission also underscored the importance of public-transport infrastructure, especially the establishment of a metro station for the International Exhibition Center. He described this as essential for improving accessibility and increasing participation in major economic events.

In closing, the former head of the Agriculture Commission expressed hope that by effectively leveraging platforms like Iran Expo—along with improving product quality, strengthening international relationships, and upgrading infrastructure—Iran can secure a rightful position in global agricultural trade and ensure a sustainable future for this vital sector of the national economy.
